According to Vedic astrology, panchak represents the union of five Nakshatras or constellations: Dhanishta, Purva Bhadrapada, Shatabhishaj, Uttar Bhadrapada, and Revati. Panchak Nakshatras are the names given to these five constellations as one group. Panchak Yoga begins when the Moon enters Aquarius and the third phase of Dhanishta commences. When moon transits through the Panchak constellations for about five days that time period is called Panchak Kaal. The actual transit would take less than 5 days. Last two quarters of Dhanistha, entire Satbhishaj, entire Purva Bhadrapada, entire Uttara Bhadrapada, entire Revati.
Panchak Kaal is not considered good to do anything auspicious, although there are some tasks that are not prohibited. This time period of panchak is considered inauspicious. It is considered to be under the influence of all five unlucky constellations, so it is harmful to do any auspicious work at the time of Panchak. During panchak Kaal Moon transits in Aquarius and Pisces zodiac signs.
