Neha Kakkar was born on 6 June 1988, in Rishikesh in the state of Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand). In the early 1990s, Neha Kakkar moved to Delhi along with her family, to try her luck at singing. She started performing at local gatherings and religious events at the age of four years. Before becoming one of the most successful singers in the Hindi film industry, Neha Kakkar auditioned for Indian Idol 2 as a contestant in 2006.
