He served as Conservative Prime Minister twice – from 1940 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1955. His final major work was the four-volume work A History of the English-Speaking People (1956–1958).

In 1953 Churchill was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for his mastery of historical and biographical description as well as for brilliant oratory in defending human values. Winston Churchill’s Conservative Party lost the July 1945 general election, forcing him to step down as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Churchill had suffered his first stroke in 1949, 3 more cerebrovascular strokes in 1950–1952, a stroke in 1953 from which he recovered, and a cerebellar stroke in June 1955.

But he could recover well.The last stroke was on 15 January 1965, from which he never recovered. Due to which he passed away on Sunday 24th January 1965 at 8 a.m.
